I can!

I have recently embarked on a new phase of my life which includes being a healthy person. It's crazy. I always thought I would do it someday, but I never had any idea when that day would show it's beautiful and torturous face. Well, it's here.
 Get it.
Get it.
I am in Amarillo visiting my aunt this weekend, and I brought my free weights and an exercise ball with me. I had every intention of using them, but yesterday I did not have time. I started to justify not using them. I'm out of town. I'm messing with other people's schedules by needing to exercise. No big deal, eh?

Right, no big deal...

Well, I looked at my gym bag, with my unused equipment, and I decided something. I did not lug this 20 lb bag all the way to Texas to not use the stuff I brought. So, though only for a few minutes, I got out my weights and did a few sets of exercises.

YES!

All this to say, I learned today that I can do this.

It Really Matters #1: Freeze Out 2014

I live in a very old house with that I affectionately say is slightly insulated. I love my house. It is quirky and old and interesting, but it is less than energy efficient.

(Not my house. Found this pic here.)

My gracious landlord installed a brand new air conditioner and a brand new hot water heater prior to our occupancy of the the home, but it still has been hard for said machines to keep up with Oklahoma's, shall I say, moody weather. (We had some issues in the summer).

Ooooh, nice shot! Courtesy of whoever this is.

A few weeks ago, when the temperature dropped to a balmy 6 degrees around here, our hot water froze up. I was not there, but I can't guarantee I would have thought to keep the water dripping if I had been there. It doesn't appear our hot water pipe has burst, but you can bet that I'll be letting the water drip this week. It's getting cold again 'round these parts!

Cool pic, eh, Baby? From here.

Advanced Composition

I've submitted this blog for my Advanced Composition class. It is so true that you learn something new everyday. Some things are useful, like how to refurbish an old dresser (click here for a great how-to guide for a distressed look).

Antique Distressed Blue Chest of Drawers

And some things are not so useful, like the fact that Jason Earles, famous from Hanna Montanan, is also in the box office smash Super Buddies, which is one in a long line of movies featuring golden retriever puppies (click here for the iMDB for the movie).

This blog will give you a glimpse of some of the things I learn day in and day out.

Have a great day, and keep learning!
